Superb September Season Finale for Lough Corrib
Trout and salmon season 2014 bid us adieu in fine style, with good fishing and fantastic weather that was more reminiscent of mid August than the final days of September.
I was fishing with regular visitor Rob “Bristol Bob” Cooksley, a very welcome visitor to Nonaim Lodge, in fact Rob was one of the very first guests to visit us on the initial week we opened over 16 years ago, as always, he was a delight to meet and fish with on Corrib.
We had 3 days fly fishing, including the final day of the season and had a total of 18 trout between our two rods, best were a couple of 2.25 lb trout, with the average size of 1.75 lb. All fish were returned apart from two trout we kept for the pan.
Dublin anglers John Guy, senior and junior, also fished on the final day bagging 4 trout on wet fly, with John senior claiming the honours for best fish a lovely 2 pounder, releasing all four to fight another day.
